The most senior of the cars at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2003.At 37 Avenue des Champs Elysées, in Paris, you could admire the Piccard-Pictet. At the beginning of the 1920s, production of the PIC-PIC, considered to be one of the best cars of its generation, moved to France following the closure of the Geneva factory.
04. Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, 1922

Every detail reveals its splendour, artistic perfection and technical intelligence. Conceived for a rich and aristocratic clientele, the Silver Ghost 40/50 was produced for over twenty years (1906-1925) with ever aging. The 6,173 that were made spanned the present and the future of automobile technology of its time.
06. Alfa Romeo RL SS, 1926

At the beginning of the 1920s Giuseppe Merosi, chief engineer, created a prestigious line of racing cars, the RL series with a 3 litre engine, which was later made in 7 series of variations, each one faster and more powerful than the last. Alfa Romeo only delivered 392 RL Super Sport chassis. Sala, Zagato, Stabilimenti Farina built most of the bodywork on RL Sport and Super Sport chassis.
08. Voisin C14 Lumineuse, 1927

The distinctive-looking Lumineuse remains one of the most representative examples of Gabriel Voisin’s talent. The great fans of Voisin’s car included the queen of Yugoslavia, Joséphine Baker, Rudolph Valentino and the architect Le Corbusier. Between 1928 and 1932 1,795 chassis of the C14 model were produced, only about 30 of which are still in existence today.
10. Cadillac 341 A, 1928

In 1928 history was made in Detroit. Cadillac adopted the gearbox with synchronizer mechanism, equipped its cars with safety windscreens and beat its production records. In 1928 the price of this 341 A coupé was 3,495 dollars.
12. Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 N, 1928

In spite of its small engine, the Alfa Romeo 1500 N was able to take advantage of technical progress achieved in racing cars, and distinguished itself for its outstanding performance. The 1500 N was launched during the Motor Shows in Milan, London and Paris in 1927. It made its debut in racing a few months later. Enzo Ferrari arrived first in the race on the on the Modena racetrack.
14. Lincoln L, 1928

This was the name given in honour of the old president of the United States. The Lincoln company, founded by Henry Leland three years previously, was sold in 1922 for 5 million dollars to Ford. The compensator mounted on the radiator since 1925 emphasised the luxurious image of refined elegance with which Lincoln presented itself in the adverts in Vanity Fair and Country Life. In 1929 the L model reached the end of a long career and the V 12 KB was already on the horizon.
16. Hispano-Suiza H6B, 1928

The Hispano-Suiza H6B, created by the Swiss engineer Marc Birkigt was launched during the Paris Motor Show in 1919. It quickly became a symbol of social success and good taste, and was the best car for making oneself noticed in the elegant Paris avenues. The 32 CV chassis were built with sumptuous bodywork, carried out by some of the most famous coachbuilders, including Erdmann & Rossi, who built this exceptional car.
18. Alfa Romeo 6C 1500 N, 1929

After making 862 of them, in 1929 Alfa Romeo added the letters “NR” to the 6C 1500 model in honour of Nicola Romeo and went into its last year of production.
