Turin design house Bertone presents the Villa, a four-door design study based on the Cadillac SRX which focuses on ease of entry and futuristic luxury in the interior. The Villa celebrated its premiere at this year’s International Motor Show in Geneva.

C 04. Nissan Qashqai, 2004
Nissan, 6 Zylinder, 2000 cm³

Competitor: Nissan

The Nissan Qashqai boasts an intriguing history as well as an imposing exterior. The Qashqai is the first car to be designed and developed from scratch at NISSAN Design Europe’s new London studio. It comes with electronically controlled allwheel drive and is based on an innovative concept with folding seats which allows bicycles to be transported easily, for example. The Qashqai’s flexibility is further enhanced by rear-hinged rear doors and the lack of a B-pillar. This groundbreaking solution has been developed without compromising on the structural rigidity of the vehicle.

Competitor: Renault

Also celebrating its premiere at this year’s Geneva Motor Show was the Renault Zoé. The French manufacturer is showcasing its new design study under the slogan: “Little in size, big in driving pleasure.”

Alfa Romeo, 6 Zylinder, 3200 cm³

Competitor: Ital-Design Giugiaro

This high-class luxury saloon, unveiled for the first time at the 2004 Geneva Motor Show, was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the founder of the design and development firm Ital-Design.

C 16. Rinspeed Senso, 2005
Porsche Boxster S, 6 Zylinder, 3200 cm³

Competitor: Rinspeed AGo

The Rinspeed Senso of Swiss entrant Frank M. Rinderknecht puts the driver at the centre of attention. The Senso is powered by environment-friendly natural gas and described as the world’s “most sensual” car. It’s easy to see why, as Rinderknecht’s creation actually “senses” the driver by noting his or her biometric readings – and uses patterns, colours, music and aromas to positive effect. After all, a well-balanced driver is a safer driver.
