02. Aston martin Rapide, 2006

The Aston Martin Rapide is a concept study for a four-door coupé that was unveiled to great acclaim at this year’s Detroit Auto Show and Geneva Motor Show. Its breathtaking design and harmonious proportions make you forget you are looking at a four-door coupé.

With its Suagnà, Bertone aims to demonstrate its competence in creating innovative solutions for folding tops. The version presented here allows generous space for occupants with the roof down. The futuristic headlamps contribute to its overall individualistic look.

"The Alfa Diva prototype has been clesigned and built by Elasis with the collaboration of the design school Espera of Franco Sbarro. Free from the constraints of serial production it highlights the traditional Alfa Romeo guidelines: sophisticated mechanics, powerful engines and a design that represents the real sporting heart of the brand."

In 2003, Alfa Romeo presented the 8C Coupé, a concept whose design seamlessly perpetuates the tradition of the Alfa Romeo Company. In 2005, the 8C was built in a Spider variant unveiled in the USA. This concept car is now marking its European debut at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.

10. Italdesign Ferrari 50GG, 2005

This is Giorgetto Giugiaro’s present to himself on his 50th anniversary as a designer. On the basis of the Ferrari 612 Scaglietti, he has created a 2 + 2-seater coupé that features a front end remmiscent of the marque’s former two-seater race cars as well as offering more interior space and a tailgate.

12. Pininfarina Birdcage 75th, 2005

To mark its 75th birthday in 2005, the Pininfarina Company created a superflat high-performance coupé based on the Maserati MC 12 that recalls the legendary Maserati Birdcage two-seater racing cars of the 1960s. The entire wrap-around glass front and centre section is electronically raised to allow entry to the cockpit.

Citroen took the motoring world by surprise at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show with its GT Monovolume that couples sporty handling with generous cabin space for passengers.
Another striking feature is its aerodynamic appearance.

To quote Patrick le Quément, Renault’s Senior Vice President, Corporate Design: "Altica strikes a successful Balance between flowing and sporty lines. This car is an original and futuristic vision of the estate car, while its graphic identity is both bold and innovative."

 18. Rinspeed ZaZen, 2006
Porsche, 6 cylinder, 3824 cm3

Rinspeed is never short of surpises. After wowing die motoring world last year with a car that can feel, it is now making a mark on the time and space front with its ZaZen. With an innovative, transparent roof design developed by Bayer AG, along with smart seats that mould themselves to the body and paintwork flecked with Swarovski crystals, Frank M. Rinderknecht showcases a number of new creative ideas in this concept study.

20. Russo Balt Impression, 2006

The origin of the name Russo Balt goes back to an earlier Russian car marque. The Russo Balt Impression 2006 with its idiosyncratic, striking styling makes its world debut with its public appearance at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este. At the heart of the Russo Balt Impression is a 12-cylinder Mercedes-Benz engine.

22. VW Eco-Racer, 2005
4 cylinder, 1484 cm3

With this concept for a "Volkssportwagen" ("people’s sports car"), VW is demonstrating chat extremes can be united, as reflected in an average fuel consumption of just 3.4 l/100 km (83 mpg), acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 230 km/h. All this is achieved with a 136 hp 1.5 litre turbo diesel engine. The roof and windows are detachable.

24. Ferrari 575 GTZ, 2006

In the 1950s, Milan-based Carrozzeria Zagato created several cars of timeless beauty sporting the legendary "double bubble roof" on Ferrari chassis. With the 575 GTZ, Zagato is reviving this tradition, endowing the new model with the brand’s hallmark "double bubble roof" as well.
