Classe C41

Anybody looking back into the annals of history for this Mercedes-Benz 300 SL Roadster will inevitably arrive at 28th April 1961. This was the day when the super sports car from Stuttgart was given its first registration plates. The car was registered by metalwork factory Max Kress in Nuremberg. Historic photographs show the car at the luxury Riviera dei Fiori, with a young man at the wheel, tanned and wearing a casual red shirt wide open at the neck. His southern style was a perfect match for his open-top 300 SL finished in Uranium Yellow.

Mercedes-Benz is only supposed to have finished three cars in this works paint livery. Chrome, leather and carpets have never been renewed in this car, and even the comprehensive special equipment is still there – including a set of suitcases and the racing safety belts from Karl Baisch. What’s more, the original log book shows every service entry up to the most recent kilometre reading on the speedometer – and all stamps originate from the same Mercedes-Benz workshop in Nuremberg.
