Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2024 Corriere d’Eleganza VI

Dear Friend of the Concorso,

In just a few weeks, 53 highly exquisite automobiles from all over the world will be coming together at the impressive Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on Lake Como in northern Italy. Among them are the most captivating automobile designs of all times, true style icons and outstanding car bodies.

The German watch manufacturer A. Lange & Söhne is our long-standing partner, representing all the incredible values of this unique event and its worldwide appeal of customized and artistic craftsmanship.

Together we are eagerly anticipating an extraordinary weekend of revelling in the beauty of historic automobiles. Among the many extraordinary highlights of the event, the awards ceremony promises to be an unforgettable experience. The spotlight will be on the “Best of Show” car, whose winner will be awarded with a unique edition of the 1815 CHRONOGRAPH, a distinctive A. Lange & Söhne timepiece. There could not be a better choice for the winner’s watch, as chronographs symbolise the deep-rooted link between motorsport and timekeeping. This tradition also provides an excellent opportunity to explore the history of Lange’s long-standing chronograph tradition, which was revived 25 years ago by the extraordinary DATOGRAPH, the first in a series of 13 innovative A. Lange & Söhne watches with a chronograph function.

ALS

This year, A. Lange & Söhne is celebrating the 25th anniversary of the DATOGRAPH with two new timepieces: the DATOGRAPH PERPETUAL TOURBILLON HONEYGOLD “Lumen” and the DATOGRAPH UP/DOWN in white gold with a blue dial.

25 YEARS OF THE DATOGRAPH

Introduced in 1999, this column-wheel chronograph with a flyback function, a precisely jumping minute counter and the typical Lange outsize date continues to be a symbol of the German manufacture’s quest for innovation and technical prowess. Since its update in 2012, it has also offered a power-reserve indicator and an increased power-reserve of 60 hours. The DATOGRAPH laid the foundation for the current range of Lange chronographs, each equipped with a bespoke movement that is a testament to the art of contemporary watchmaking.

DOUBLE SPLIT

A true pioneer: for the first time ever in mechanical timekeeping, the DOUBLE SPLIT enabled comparative time measurements of events that last up to 30 minutes. With a separate rattrapante hand above the minute-counter hand, this exceptional chronograph has added a fascinating dimension to the stopwatch principle.

TRIPLE SPLIT

This amazing achievement was surpassed by another Lange chronograph, the TRIPLE SPLIT. The world’s first mechanical split-seconds chronograph allows comparative time measurements of up to twelve hours, thanks to two rattrapante hands, one on the minute and one on the hour counter.

1815 CHRONOGRAPH

Tradition meets modernity in this chronograph whose design is inspired by the style of Ferdinand Adolph Lange’s historic pocket watches. In 2010, its hand-wound movement was equipped with an extended power reserve of 60 hours and the proprietary Lange balance spring. The “Best of Show” winner of this year’s Concorso will once again be honoured with a unique “Como Edition”.
