THAT “MADE IN ITALY” LOOK: STYLES WHICH CONQUERED NEW WORLDS

Aston Martin - DB5 GT
Class F76

Aston Martin created a more lightweight and significantly more powerful sports version of the DB4 with the DB4 GT. The modifications ranged from twin ignition to side windows made of Plexiglas.
The wheelbase had also been significantly shortened. Aston Martin only built 30 vehicles with left-hand steering in this series, and indeed only one of them was liveried in the shade Black Pearl with interior upholstered in dark blue leather. That is precisely as this example appears today after a thorough restoration a few years ago, complemented with Matching Numbers for all components. A modification to the rear end had already been removed in the 1990s. When this DB4 GT was just ten years old, Frua probably carried out stylistic adaptations to chime with the later DB6. This is now an apparition of the past, along with the temporarily installed ZF five-speed transmission. Today, the driver can once again go through the gear changes in this DB4 GT with the original four-speed gearbox. The meticulously documented history of this Aston bears testimony to its life story. Today, it is in the custody of its twelfth owner and domiciled in the country where it was first delivered – Switzerland.
